What your client should know . . . Make sure that your clients are aware that they will be receiving a call from a medical technician. We identify ourselves as your associate working for the insurance carrier. The most common physical includes a Paramed (medical history and vitals), Blood and Urine Collection. This takes about 30 minutes. EKG’s are required at certain ages and amounts. EKG's add another 15 minutes to the exam time. The physicals are completed at their home, office, or at our facility by a licensed and background checked medical technician. An MD Exam is sometimes required which means the exam will be completed by a Physician. MD Exams take about an hour and they will be seen by either a “mobile physician,” or they will go to a medical facility. Exams are completed from 7am to 8pm Monday thru Friday, and on Saturdays till 3:00 or as needed. Under extreme conditions, exams can be completed on Sundays. The Paramed – A medical history questionnaire. This interview generally takes about 20 minutes and includes medical history information, including all physicians and personal care providers for any and all medical procedures, physicals, and illnesses. Having doctor and hospital information on hand to include name, address, and phone numbers, will expedite this part of the exam. The Paramed also includes securing their height, weight, three blood pressure readings, pulse and for men; chest and abdomen measurements. Urine Specimen – A urine specimen will always be collected during a Paramedical Health Physical. The tests ordered are determined by the insurance company and performed at a laboratory. The test results are sent only to the insurance company and used for underwriting purposes. Blood Test – If a blood test is required, a small amount of blood is drawn from a vein in their arm, again, by an experienced medical technician certified in phlebotomy. Limited fasting will be necessary and those instructions will be provided by the medical technician. They will be encouraged to drink a lot of water prior to the exam appointment and take any medications as prescribed. They can request a copy of their lab results. EKG – A Resting EKG is a recording of electrical impulses caused by cardiac contraction and relaxation. Electrodes are attached to their chest, arms and legs, while they are lying down. Their shirt or blouse may be unbuttoned, but they will not be required to undress. It is important for them to relax to prevent muscle interference on the EKG tracings. Physician Exam – When a physician’s exam is required, the length of time varies from an hour to two hours (if a Stress EKG is ordered). These exams are scheduled by a staff member of Mobile Health Services. Depending on the area in which they live, MD exams can also be done at their home or office. A Stress Treadmill EKG – is completed only under medical supervision at a facility or hospital. They will need to dress in jogging clothing and gym shoes. This appointment will be coordinated by a staff member of Mobile Health Services and cannot be done at their home or office. Rarely, chest X-rays are required and are also completed at a medical facility. Any questions can be directed to your agent, |
